The Chapman Building at the University of Salford is a striking contemporary education facility featuring a distinctive fa\u00e7ade of corten steel expanded metal mesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working in conjunction with James and Taylor, The Expanded Metal Company manufactured the mesh used across the exterior of the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The warm tones of the corten steel mesh give the building a strong identity, with the fa\u00e7ade responding to changing light conditions and viewing angles. The mesh also allows natural ventilation and visibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project demonstrates how expanded metal mesh can be used within the education sector to create visually distinctive buildings that balance aesthetics with practical performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
