Expanded metal mesh was selected once again for the extension of a museum to commemorate one of the largest battles in medieval Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Battle of Grunwald took place on July 15, 1410, and was a major Polish-Lithuanian victory over the Knights of the Teutonic Order. It stopped the order\u2019s expansion along the South-Eastern coast of the Baltic Sea and marked the emergence of Poland-Lithuania as one of Europe\u2019s most powerful states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The museum to commemorate the battle, which is built on the central hill of the battlefield, was initially built in 2010 and features a display of period armour, maps and battle banners. There is also a small cinema that plays scenes from Bitwa pod Grunwaldem<\/em> (1931), a classic Polish film about the battle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, expansion work was required as the museum was too small and didn\u2019t meet the needs of visitors, especially the thousands that flock to the attraction in the summer months to watch the re-enactment of the famous medieval battle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new 3,500 square building is multifunctional and includes not only exhibition space, but also an indoor court for staging medieval knight tournaments, a conference room, staff offices as well as customer service and shopping areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clad in our Bilbao<\/a> architectural mesh, the striking building gleams at the top of the hill and can be visited in the Olsztynek region of Poland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
