The Expanded Metal Company was approached by James and Taylor to provide a bespoke, eye-catching exterior façade.
Situated in Stratford City, East London, Westfield Shopping Centre is one of the largest urban shopping centres in Europe and lies close to the London Olympic Park.
The site, which has acted as a catalyst for regeneration in East London, opened in 2011 and it features more than 250 shops and over 65 restaurants.
Spread over 10 hectares, Westfield Shopping Centre is also home to an array of leisure facilities, including a Vue Cinema, and boasts substantial transport infrastructure.
Rainscreen cladding and façade engineering specialist James and Taylor was commissioned to install cladding on several key buildings at Westfield Stratford City, which were designed by Leonard Design Architects.
We supplied James and Taylor with a bespoke anodised gold-coloured architectural mesh for the project – and you’ll see our striking expanded metal on the exterior of Westfield Stratford City’s multi-storey car park and the adjacent Stratford City Bus Station.
As well as providing an eye-catching exterior façade for the buildings, the mesh provides a complementary backdrop to the shopping centre’s signage.
