Project Overview
Burnholme Green is a residential development in York comprising 78 Passivhaus homes and five self-build plots. Designed to achieve net zero carbon in operation, the development combines high-quality architecture with sustainable technologies, including rooftop solar panels, air source heat pumps and energy-efficient construction. The result is a modern residential community designed to reduce carbon emissions while providing comfortable, sustainable homes.
The Expanded Metal Company supplied architectural expanded metal mesh, from the ArchitEx range, in the Bilbao pattern for use across a range of bespoke gate and storage solutions. Working in partnership with Davison Fencing, the mesh was incorporated into gates and storage throughout the development, creating a consistent architectural finish across the site.
Selected for its durability, visual appeal and ability to integrate seamlessly with the surrounding buildings, the Bilbao pattern complements the wider design of the development while delivering secure, practical solutions. The mesh was powder coated to complement the surrounding brickwork and architectural detailing, allowing the gates and storage solutions to integrate naturally with the wider development. The project demonstrates how architectural expanded metal can enhance residential environments by combining functionality with considered design.
